Cupcake base
Start crocheting with beige, sand, or brown medium-weight yarn. I used Vita Cotton Lira.
Rnd 1: 8 sc in MR
Rnd 2: 8 inc (16)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 8 (24)
Rnd 4: (1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc) x 8 (32)
Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) x 8 (40)
Rnd 6: (2 sc, 1 inc, 2 sc) x 8 (48), 2 sl st
Cut a circle insert for the bottom out of thin plastic or sturdy cardboard to fit the size of the base piece.
Rnd 7: 48 sc in BLO
Rnd 8-10: 48 sc, 2 sl st
Rnd 11: (4 sc, 1 dec) x 8 (40)
Place the bottom insert inside.
Rnd 12: (3 sc, 1 dec) x 8 (32)
Rnd 13: (3 sc, 1 dec) x 8 (24)
Rnd 14: (1 sc, 1 dec) x 8 (16)
Stuff the piece.
Rnd 15: 8 dec
Pull the opening closed with a needle.
Whipped cream
Work in turning rows using one color of yarn, or alternate contrasting colors.
Chain 22:
Row 1: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, 21 sc. Turn. Work all following rows in BLO:
1 turning ch, 1 inc in the first stitch, then 18 sc, 1 dec
In all following rows, make each decrease above the previous decrease and each increase above the previous increase. This way the fabric will keep shifting tightly to one side.
To make stripes, change the yarn color every 2 rows. Work a total of 28 rows.
Cut the yarn, fasten off, and sew the piece tightly into a cylinder. Pull one end of the cylinder closed with a needle, stuff the piece, then pull the second end closed. Stitch through the center of the piece to shape the cream as needed.
Sew the cream around the top of the cupcake base. Decorate the cupcake as desired (you can crochet a berry).
