Alyona the Crow

A free crochet tutorial for Alyona the Crow by Svetlana Voronkova.

With this pattern, you can crochet Alyona the Crow. Any cotton blend yarn will work well for this amigurumi project: Alize Cotton Gold, YarnArt Jeans, Gazzal Baby Cotton, and others. The toy is worked in a spiral, without a turning chain. Stuff with fiberfill as you go.

The finished toy measures about 26 cm.

Materials and tools

• Alize Cotton Gold yarn: gray, black, beige
• 2 mm crochet hook
• 12 mm safety eyes
• Fiberfill
• White felt
• Glue
• Stitch markers
• Needle for sewing parts together
• Scissors

If you want to use a wire frame, insert it at this stage. If you are working without a frame, stuff the piece fairly firmly.

Row 4: (5 sc, dec) x 2 (12);
Row 5: sc, 3 ch, skip 3 sc of the previous row, 8 sc (12);
Bring the frame out through the opening made by the 3 ch.
Row 6: (2 sc, dec) x 3 (9);

Pull the opening closed, cut the yarn, and hide the end. Along the edge of the opening made in Row 5, pick up 6 sc and work 10 rows without inc or dec. Cut the yarn and hide the end.

Work in gray. Place the marker at the center of the back; make an offset stitch if needed.

Assembly

• Stuff the beak fairly firmly and sew it to the head.
• Shape the nostrils with black thread and embroider a smile.
• Cut eye whites from white felt and glue them above the beak. Glue the eyes onto them.
• Sew on the chest patch.
• Sew the tail above the decreases of Row 19.
• Decorate this fashionable lady however you like.
