1 ch, 15 sc, 6 dc, 15 sc, and sl st - (36)
Close and leave a long tail for sewing.
Antennae
5 ch, sl st in the second chain from the hook, 4 sl st. Sew on black beads as eyes on the top of the antennae, or use black yarn.
Assembly
Go back to all front loops that were left unworked in rounds 4, 11, and 19. Insert new yarn of the same color, make sl st and sc in the remaining loops. When finished, take another strand of yarn and insert it from any point near the sl st (only in rounds 4 and 11), work sl st to reinforce the shape.

Place the shell on the flat part of the body and sew it slightly toward the tail. Use the photos below as a guide. Sew the antennae onto the head between rounds 2 and 3. The author decorated the shell with beads and French-knot embroidery. Feel free to decorate your snail however you like. Slightly flatten the neck area and sew the shell ruffle to the neck, or let it flow naturally and stitch that area closed.
