Amigurumi colorful zebra crochet pattern

Free crochet pattern for Colorful Zebra by Darya Saltevskaya @dary_toys.

With this tutorial, you can crochet a colorful plush zebra. Any plush yarn will work for this amigurumi: Himalaya Dolphin Baby, YarnArt Dolce, and others. You can also use toy joints if you like.

The finished toy is about 28 cm tall.

Materials and Tools

  • Himalaya Dolphin Baby plush yarn (rainbow colors)
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • 16 mm safety eyes
  • Doll eyelashes
  • Toy stuffing
  • 4 toy joints, 25 mm
  • Needle for sewing pieces together
  • Scissors

Head

Start with red yarn:

1. 8 sc in MR

6. 12 dec (12)
Change to skin-tone yarn.
7. 2 sc, 8 inc, 2 sc (20)
8. 2 sc, 16 inc, 2 sc (36)
9-16. 36 sc (8 rounds)

From round 16, change to purple yarn. Glue the eyelashes to the eyes. Insert the eyes between rounds 8 and 9. There are 5 increases from round 8 between the eye placement points.

17. (4 sc, dec) x 6 times (30)
18. (3 sc, dec) x 6 times (24)
Change to red yarn.
19. (2 sc, dec) x 6 times (18)
Stuff the head. Stuff firmly.
20. (1 sc, dec) x 6 times (12)

Add more stuffing. Pull the opening closed.

Arms (make 2)

With red yarn:

1. 8 sc in MR
2. 8 inc (16)
3-5. 16 sc (3 rounds)
6. 8 dec (8)

Next, crochet 11 rounds, changing the yarn every 2 rounds. Work the last three rounds in one color (I used skin-tone yarn):

7-17. 8 sc

Lightly stuff the arm. Insert the joint at the last color-change point. Pull the opening closed.

Legs (make 2)

With red yarn:

3. (3 sc, inc) x 4 times (20)
4-6. 20 sc (3 rounds)

Next, crochet 11 rounds, changing the yarn every 2 rounds. Work the last three rounds in one color (I used skin-tone yarn):

Stuff the leg. Insert the joint at the last color-change point. Pull the opening closed.

Body

With red yarn.

Mane

With red yarn. Chain 15.

Now, from each stitch of this chain, chain 5 and work back along the chain with 4 increases (starting from the second stitch). You will get 15 short curls.

You can work 2 more curls into the last stitch for the forelock.

Tail

Chain 10.

Work back along the chain with single crochet stitches.

In the last stitch, chain 10 more. Work back along the chain with single crochet stitches as well, then repeat once more.

Ears (make 2)

1. 6 sc in MR
2. (1 sc, inc) x 3 times (9)
3. 9 sc
4. (2 sc, inc) x 3 times (12)
5. (2 sc, inc) x 4 times (16)

7. 8 dec (8)

Cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing on the ear.
