Free Chicks crochet tutorial by Maria Dmitrieva @marytoyslove.

With this pattern, you can crochet a tiny plush chick in one piece. For this amigurumi project, you will need LaVita plush yarn (or any similar plush yarn with a close yardage). The whole toy works up quickly and easily in a continuous spiral as one piece. Embroider the beak and feet with smooth thread.

The finished chick measures about 4-5 cm. You can use it as a keychain or as part of an Easter arrangement.

Materials and Tools

• LaVita plush yarn (or similar)
• Embroidery thread
• Crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Pins
• Sewing needle for attaching parts
• Scissors

• sl st — slip stitch
• sc — single crochet
• inc — increase
• dec — decrease

2. (sc, inc) x 4 (12)
3. 4 sc, 2 ch, from the 2nd ch from hook make sl st into the base (this is a wing), 6 sc, 2 ch, from the 2nd ch from hook make sl st into the base (this is a wing), 2 sc (12)
4-5. 12 sc
6. (3 sc, inc) x 3 (15)
7. (2 sc, dec) x 3, 3 sc (12)
8. Stuff, then decrease to the end

Attach the eyes and embroider the beak and feet. The sample uses 6 mm eyes.

You can insert safety eyes in the round where the wings are crocheted. With LaVita yarn, the toy comes out around 4 cm.
