Baby Tiger Oscar

Free crochet tutorial for Baby Tiger Oscar by @momigurum_i.

With this pattern, you can crochet a little tiger cub. Any cotton blend yarn will work well for this amigurumi: YarnArt Jeans, Gazzal Baby Cotton, Alize Cotton Gold, and others. You can decorate the toy however you like, for example, with a crocheted scarf.

Materials and Tools

• YarnArt Jeans: 03-milk (for the paws and head), 84-orange (main color), 28-black (for the stripes)
• 2 mm crochet hook
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Toy stuffing
• Stitch markers
• Needle for sewing pieces together
• Scissors

Head

Start crocheting with orange yarn.

Nose

Crochet with orange yarn. Chain 5 ch. Starting in the second chain from the hook, crochet through the loops first along one side of the chain, then along the other side, as you would when crocheting an oval:

Without stuffing, fold the top of the nose in half and crochet 4 sc through both layers.

Ears (2 Pieces)

At the end, make a sl st, cut the yarn, leaving a tail for sewing the ear to the head.

Assembling the Head

If, like me, you are using safety eyes, I recommend shaping the face now, while the head-body piece is not finished yet. Using a needle and black yarn, embroider the tip of the nose at the bottom of the piece. To make the nose flatter and easier to sew on, you can press it with an iron (that is what I do =).

Then sew the nose around the edge between rounds 1 and 15 of the head, centered so the distance from the nose to the stripes is the same on both sides. Using a needle and black yarn, embroider the mouth and whiskers as well.

Finally, insert the eyes between rounds 11 and 12 of the head.

Body

Continue crocheting the head:

Next, fold the top and crochet 4 sc through both layers of the leg. To embroider the toes with a needle, make 3 stitches in pairs through the MR and round 7 of the leg, tightening the yarn slightly.

Cut and fasten off the milk-colored yarn. Continue following the pattern, alternating 3 rounds in orange and 1 round in black:

Stuff the arm firmly at the bottom (around the paw) and lightly along the full length, so it stays flexible but holds its shape. Do not overstuff it, or it will stick out like a stick =)

At the end, fold the top of the arm in half and crochet 3 sc through both layers. Embroider the fingers the same way you did on the legs.

Tip: if the piece is very narrow, you can use regular tweezers to stuff it ;)

Assembling the Toy

First, sew the ears between rounds 6 and 7 of the head, symmetrically on both sides.

Sew the arms near the top around round 17 of the body, 1-2 sc away from the belly. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body, as shown in the photo.

Sew the tail to the center of the body around round 30.

Tip: if you are sewing on paired pieces, bring the yarn tails left after sewing to the same place (between those pieces), tie them together in a knot, and pull that knot inside the toy with a crochet hook. This way your pieces will be securely, neatly, and most importantly, invisibly attached.
