Autumn Leaves

Free Autumn Leaves crochet tutorial by Tamara Kelly.
With this pattern, you can crochet a leaf-shaped potholder. For this amigurumi project, any acrylic, cotton, or cotton blend yarn in autumn shades will work, along with a matching crochet hook.
Finished potholder size: about 23 cm by 15 cm.

Abbreviations
- ch - chain stitch
- sc - single crochet
- dc - double crochet
- FPdc - front post double crochet
- BPdc - back post double crochet
- dc2tog - 2 double crochet stitches worked together
- sl st - slip stitch
- FP3yo / FP5yo / FP6yo - front-post stitches with 3 / 5 / 6 yarn overs
In this pattern, front-post long stitches are worked around the post of the stitch in the previous row, not into the top loops.

Crochet Leaf Pattern
Row 1: 2 ch (do not count as a stitch), 5 dc in the 2nd ch from hook; turn. (5 dc)
Row 2: 2 ch, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next dc, FPdc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in last dc; turn. (7 dc)
Row 3: 2 ch, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next 2 dc, BPdc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in last dc; turn. (9 dc)
Row 4: 2 ch, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next 3 dc, FPdc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in last dc; turn. (11 dc)
Row 5: 2 ch, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next 4 dc, BPdc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in last dc; turn. (13 dc)

Edging
First edging row is worked following this video tutorial.
1 ch, sc in each dc of previous row, work sc evenly along the side to marker 1, FP5yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 14;
work sc evenly to marker 2, FP6yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 11;
work sc evenly to marker 3, FP5yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 8;
work sc evenly to marker 4, FP3yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 5;
work sc evenly to the tip of the leaf (the ch where the first 5 dc were worked), picot;
work sc evenly to marker 5, FP3yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 5;
work sc evenly to marker 6, FP5yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 8;
work sc evenly to marker 7, FP6yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 11;
work sc evenly to marker 8, FP5yo around the FPdc in the middle of row 14;
work sc evenly to the end of the row; join with sl st in the first sc of the row, do not turn.
Edging row 2: 1 ch, work sc evenly along one side to the picot, 3 sc in the picot, work sc evenly along the other side;
join with sl st in the first sc of the row, chain 12 for the hanging loop from the "stem"; cut the yarn and invisibly fasten it to the same sc. Weave in ends.
Autumn leaves are ready!
