Crochet amigurumi baby doll in an angel costume

Free Angel Baby Doll crochet pattern by Tatiana Sokolova @tatsok_toys.

With this pattern, you can crochet a sweet little angel baby. Any cotton blend yarn and a suitable crochet hook will work for this amigurumi. The doll is crocheted, while the dress is knitted.

The finished toy is approximately 15 cm (5.9 inches) tall.

Materials and Tools

  • Alize Cotton Gold yarn, color 62 (for the body)
  • Pekhorka Detskaya Novinka yarn in yellow (for the halo)
  • Gazzal Baby Cotton yarn in white (for the dress and wings)
  • NAKO Nakolen yarn, color 257 (for the wig)
  • Iris thread for embroidering the mouth and eyelashes
  • 1.75 mm crochet hook
  • 2 mm knitting needles

Angel Baby Doll Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Use Alize Cotton Gold yarn in color 62 and a 1.75 mm crochet hook.

Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave in the end. Crochet the second arm the same way. Mark the arm placement. Sew the arms on using thread-jointing.

Face

  • Count 18 rounds down from the top of the head and insert screw-back safety eyes or sew on bead eyes. Leave 5 sc between the eyes.
  • Embroider the nose with the body-color yarn, then embroider the mouth and eyelashes.
  • Add blush to the cheeks.

Wig

Use NAKO Nakolen yarn in color 257 and a 1.75 mm crochet hook. If you use a different yarn, try the wig on the doll's head as you work. You may need to crochet fewer or more rounds.

Ponytail

Crochet the curls. Ch 45, then work (sc, inc) from the second chain from the hook to the end. Ch 45 again and repeat. Make 4 strands this way. Next, ch 55 and make 8 strands the same way. Then ch 60 and make 4 more strands. Twist the strands or fold them accordion-style and sew them together. Sew the ponytail securely to the top of the head, stitching through both the wig and the head. For the tie, use any yarn to make a chain of the desired length (approximately 70 ch). Add beads to the ends and tie a bow around the ponytail.

Angel Dress

  • K — knit
  • P — purl
  • YO — yarn over

Use white Gazzal Baby yarn, 2 mm knitting needles, and a 1.75 mm crochet hook.

Cast on 30 stitches (28 + 2 edge stitches). The edge stitches are not included in the stitch pattern. Always slip the first stitch purlwise and purl the last stitch. Where the pattern says inc, work an increase rather than a yarn over so there is no eyelet.

Bind off all stitches. Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave in the ends. Join the yarn at the bottom edge of the dress and work (ch 3, skip 1 stitch, sl st) to the end of the row. Fasten off and weave in the end. Sew on two buttons. The dress is finished.

Wings (make 2)

Ch 10. Starting in the second chain from the hook:

Next, work 4 dec along the short edge. Place the wings together and join them with sc. Make the wings removable. Sew one half of the snap fastener to the center of the wings and the other half to the dress between the buttons. Join the yarn at the top of one wing, ch 4, and attach it to the other wing to form a loop. Attach the wings with the snap fastener and loop the chain over the top button on the dress. The wings can now be put on and removed. I lightly starched them so they would hold their shape.

Halo

Ch 25 and join to form a ring. Work 35 sc around the ring itself, not into the individual chains. Join with a sl st.

Next, work (ch 2, skip 1 stitch, sl st) to the end of the round. Cut the yarn, fasten off, and weave in the ends.

Pull the ponytail through the halo. Your little angel is ready!
