Now crochet one more round with beige yarn. It will be used later for the cap. Work this round in BLO of round 48. This is round 48.1.
48.1. (9 sc, inc) x 7 (77)
Cut and fasten off the beige yarn. Start crocheting the acorn cap. Join brown yarn to the last stitch of round 48 and work into the remaining front loops of that round.
49. (9 sc, inc) x 7 (77)
50-51. 77 sc
At this stage, insert the eyes if you are using safety eyes. Place them between rounds 41 and 42, with 13 stitches between them.

At this stage, stuff the head firmly and shape the face. Bring the thread through the top of the head, embroider, and bring it back out through the top. Tie the thread ends in two knots. With beige thread, embroider a small nose (about 5-6 stitches is enough). With white thread, embroider the whites of the eyes.
Using thin dark brown thread, embroider the eyebrows and the nose outline. Hide all thread ends inside the head.
Head and stem
Continue crocheting the head and the stem (twig).
67. (3 sc, dec) x 6 (24)
68. 1 sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, 1 sc (18)

In round 72, crochet in the leaves by working stitches of the round and stitches of the leaf together. Or you can simply sew them on later.
